Reishi Mushroom + Spironolactone
Spironolactone brand names: Aldactone, Spiroton, Carospir.
Reishi Mushroom has a moderate interaction with Spironolactone. Theoretically, concurrent use of reishi mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.

ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Spironolactone
Spironolactone falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Reishi Mushroom interacts with.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: reishi mushroom may have a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect of its own. Since spironolactone is often used to lower blood pressure and pull off extra fluid, pairing the two could nudge your pressure down a little more than you expect. If that happens, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, or unusually tired, especially when you stand up quickly.
I want to be honest about the strength of this: it's mostly based on lab and animal studies, with only mixed results in people, so it's more of a theoretical concern than a sure thing. It isn't a reason to panic. Still, if you take reishi regularly, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor, and keeping an eye on your blood pressure at home is a smart move.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Spironolactone page
“Potassium is the supplement I check first for anyone on spironolactone (Aldactone, Carospir), because this water pill works by holding potassium in the body, and supplementing more on top of that can push blood levels too high. About Reishi Mushroom
What is Reishi Mushroom?
- Immune support
- Fatigue and general well-being
- Stress and sleep
- Inflammation
- Heart and cholesterol health
Reishi is a traditional Asian mushroom widely used to support the immune system and overall wellness. Human evidence for most of its claimed benefits is limited or low-quality, so it should not replace proven treatments. It is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or take other medicines.
About Spironolactone
What Is Spironolactone Used For?
Brand names: Aldactone, Spiroton, Carospir
Spironolactone tablets (including Aldactone) are used to treat moderate-to-severe heart failure, high blood pressure, and fluid retention (edema) caused by liver cirrhosis or nephrotic syndrome. They are also used to diagnose and manage primary hyperaldosteronism — a condition where the adrenal glands produce too much of the hormone aldosterone.
Spironolactone oral suspension shares several of these uses — heart failure, high blood pressure, and edema from liver cirrhosis — but is not the same as Aldactone and is not therapeutically interchangeable with it. Your prescriber will choose the right form for your situation.
