ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Bromfenac Sodium
Bromfenac Sodium falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Reishi Mushroom interacts with.
A dose of 1.5 grams daily of reishi mushroom does not seem to decrease platelet aggregation, but a higher dose of 3 grams daily does.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the situation with reishi and bromfenac (Prolensa, Bromsite). Bromfenac is an eye drop you use after cataract surgery, and it's an NSAID, which is a class that can gently affect bleeding. The concern on file is that high doses of reishi (around 3 grams a day, not 1.5 grams) might slightly increase bleeding risk on their own.
I want to be honest though: this is theoretical, based only on lab and animal studies, and bromfenac is applied right to the eye, so very little gets into your bloodstream. That makes a real bleeding problem unlikely from the combo. Still, since you're healing from eye surgery, mention any reishi supplement to your eye surgeon or pharmacist so they can keep an eye on things.

Reishi is a traditional Asian mushroom widely used to support the immune system and overall wellness.
