Reishi Mushroom + Diltiazem
Diltiazem brand names: Cardizem, Cardizem SR, Diltiaz SR, Cardizem CD, Tiazac, and others.
Reishi Mushroom has a moderate interaction with Diltiazem. Theoretically, concurrent use of reishi mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.

ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Diltiazem
Diltiazem falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Reishi Mushroom interacts with.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: diltiazem already lowers your blood pressure, and reishi mushroom may nudge it down a little further. In animal studies and some (but not all) human reports, reishi has shown a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect. So stacking the two could, in theory, lead to readings that drop lower than you want.
If that happened, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or off-balance, especially when standing up quickly. The good news is this concern is mostly theoretical and based on weak evidence, so it's not a hard no. Just don't stop or change your diltiazem on your own. Loop in your pharmacist or doctor before adding reishi, and it's smart to check your blood pressure at home for the first couple of weeks.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Diltiazem page
“Someone on diltiazem (Cardizem, Tiazac) is usually managing blood pressure, angina, or a fast heart rhythm, so this list deserves genuine care. Seven of the 260 ingredients on file carry a major rating, and two of those are things people actually buy: grapefruit, which blocks the enzyme that clears diltiazem and can push its blood leve…”

About Reishi Mushroom
What is Reishi Mushroom?
- Immune support
- Fatigue and general well-being
- Stress and sleep
- Inflammation
- Heart and cholesterol health
Reishi is a traditional Asian mushroom widely used to support the immune system and overall wellness. Human evidence for most of its claimed benefits is limited or low-quality, so it should not replace proven treatments. It is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or take other medicines.
About Diltiazem
What Is Diltiazem Used For?
Brand names: Cardizem, Cardizem SR, Diltiaz SR, Cardizem CD, Tiazac, Diltiaz XT, Diltiaz CD, Dilacor, Diltiaz, Cardizem LA, Dilacor XR, Cartia XT, Tiamate, Adizem-SR, Adizem-XL, Angitil SR, Angitil XL, Calcicard CR, Dilcardia SR, Dilzem SR, Dilzem XL, Slozem, Tildiem LA, Tildiem Retard, Viazem XL, Zemtard 120XL, Zemtard 180XL, Zemtard 240XL, Zemtard 300XL
Oral extended-release forms of diltiazem — including Matzim LA, Cardizem LA, Cartia, Cartia XT, Tiadylt ER, and various generic capsules and tablets — are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and chronic stable angina (chest pain brought on by activity). Some capsule formulations, including Cartia, Cartia XT, and certain generics, are also approved for angina due to coronary artery spasm (sudden chest pain caused by a sudden tightening of a coronary artery).
Injectable forms of diltiazem are used in hospital settings to temporarily slow a dangerously fast heart rate in atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter (rapid, irregular heart rhythms), and to restore a normal heart rhythm in paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) — sudden episodes of a very fast but regular heartbeat originating above the heart's lower chambers.

Diltiazem Is Linked to Lower Levels of 2 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Diltiazem as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Reishi Mushroom — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
