ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Minoxidil
Minoxidil falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Reishi Mushroom interacts with.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: minoxidil is a strong blood pressure medicine that works by widening your blood vessels. Reishi mushroom may have a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect of its own. So if you take both together, the worry is that your pressure could drop a little more than expected. That might show up as feeling dizzy or lightheaded, getting a fast heartbeat, or feeling faint when you stand up.
I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. The evidence here is mostly from lab and animal work, with only mixed results in people, so this is more of a theoretical caution than a sure thing. Still, since minoxidil is a powerful drug, it's worth telling your doctor or pharmacist before adding reishi so they can keep an eye on your numbers.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Minoxidil page
“American hellebore heads the concerns for anyone taking minoxidil (Loniten, Rogaine), because even small amounts of its alkaloids lower blood pressure on their own, a dangerous match with one of the most potent pressure-lowering drugs prescribed. It is one of four major-rated entries among the 139 supplements and herbs on record, and t…”

About Reishi Mushroom
What is Reishi Mushroom?
- Immune support
- Fatigue and general well-being
- Stress and sleep
- Inflammation
- Heart and cholesterol health
Reishi is a traditional Asian mushroom widely used to support the immune system and overall wellness. Human evidence for most of its claimed benefits is limited or low-quality, so it should not replace proven treatments. It is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or take other medicines.
About Minoxidil
What Is Minoxidil Used For?
Brand names: Loniten, Rogaine, Minoxidil
Minoxidil tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) — specifically in patients who haven't responded well to other blood pressure medications. They are a powerful option reserved for difficult-to-control cases.
Topical minoxidil products — including solutions, sprays, gels, and foams from many brands — are used to regrow hair on the top of the scalp (called the vertex). Products labeled for men and for women may differ; for example, Bosley MD Regular Strength for Women and Dizop Minoxidil Topical Gel are each labeled for their specific intended users.

Minoxidil Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Minoxidil as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Reishi Mushroom — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
