Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Semaglutide
Semaglutide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Reishi Mushroom interacts with.
Animal research suggests that reishi mushroom decreases blood sugar. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes, taking reishi mushroom does not reduce fasting glucose levels, and its effects on glycated hemoglobin are inconsistent.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: reishi mushroom has been studied as something that might lower blood sugar on its own. So in theory, stacking it on top of semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus) could nudge your blood sugar a little lower than expected. If that happened alongside diet, exercise, or other diabetes meds, you might notice signs of a low, like feeling shaky, sweaty, lightheaded, or unusually hungry.
That said, I want to be honest about the evidence. The blood-sugar-lowering effect mostly shows up in animal studies. In people with type 2 diabetes, reishi hasn't reliably lowered fasting glucose, and its effect on A1C has been mixed. So this is more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. If you'd like to try reishi, just check in with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your sugars.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Semaglutide page
“Semaglutide (Ozempic, Rybelsus, Wegovy) lowers blood sugar, and so do most of the 256 supplements on this page, which is why I read this list with real vigilance rather than a shrug. Nearly all of the entries either add to its glucose-lowering effect and raise the risk of hypoglycemia, or push sugar the other way and blunt it, as niaci…”

About Reishi Mushroom
What is Reishi Mushroom?
- Immune support
- Fatigue and general well-being
- Stress and sleep
- Inflammation
- Heart and cholesterol health
Reishi is a traditional Asian mushroom widely used to support the immune system and overall wellness. Human evidence for most of its claimed benefits is limited or low-quality, so it should not replace proven treatments. It is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or take other medicines.
About Semaglutide
What Is Semaglutide Used For?
Brand names: Ozempic, Rybelsus, Wegovy
Semaglutide is used for several conditions, depending on the product. Wegovy is used with a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity to reduce excess body weight and keep it off long term. It is also used to lower the risk of major cardiovascular events (heart-related death, non-fatal heart attack, or non-fatal stroke) in adults with established cardiovascular disease and either obesity or overweight.
Wegovy injection is also used for adults with noncirrhotic MASH (a fatty liver disease) with moderate to advanced liver scarring, and for weight management in children 12 and older with obesity. Ozempic is an injection used with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It also lowers the risk of major cardiovascular events in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease. Ozempic is not for type 1 diabetes.

Semaglutide Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Semaglutide as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Reishi Mushroom — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
