Schisandra + Ibuprofen
Ibuprofen brand names: Motrin, Children's Motrin, Advil, Children's Advil, Fenbid Forte Gel, and others.
Schisandra has a moderate interaction with Ibuprofen. Theoretically, schisandra might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP2C9 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Ibuprofen
Ibuprofen falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Schisandra interacts with.
In vitro and animal research suggests that schisandra induces CYP2C9 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for ibuprofen and schisandra. Your body clears ibuprofen using a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. In lab dishes and animal studies, schisandra seems to speed that enzyme up. If that held true in people, your body could clear ibuprofen a bit faster, which might make it work a little less well for things like a headache, sore muscles, or menstrual cramps. Ibuprofen is not a prodrug, so it doesn't get stronger here.
The important part: this is only theoretical and has never actually been seen in humans, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. If you take ibuprofen regularly and notice it's not helping like before, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ibuprofen page
“Most people treat ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) as an everyday pain reliever, which is exactly why this list of 286 interacting supplements deserves real attention rather than a shrug. The dominant pattern by far is bleeding: 202 of these ingredients can add to the bleeding and stomach irritation ibuprofen already causes, and the seven maj…”

About Schisandra
What is Schisandra?
- Fatigue and low energy
- Stress and adaptogen support
- Liver health
- Mental focus and performance
- Menopause symptoms
- Respiratory complaints
Schisandra is a traditional Chinese medicine berry used as an adaptogen for stress, fatigue, and liver support. Human evidence is limited and most claims are not well proven, but it appears reasonably well tolerated by most healthy adults when used short term. Pregnant and breastfeeding people should avoid it, and anyone with a health condition should check with a pharmacist or doctor first.

Ibuprofen Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Ibuprofen as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Schisandra — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
