Schisandra + Diclofenac Potassium

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Diclofenac Potassium
Diclofenac Potassium falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Schisandra interacts with.
In vitro and animal research suggests that schisandra induces CYP2C9 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Your body clears diclofenac mainly through a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. The thinking here is that schisandra might speed that enzyme up, which could clear diclofenac out of your system a little faster. If that happens, your pain reliever might not work quite as well, so you could notice more joint pain, stiffness, or breakthrough discomfort than usual.
Here is the reassuring part: this idea comes only from lab dishes and animal studies, and it has not been seen in real people. So it is theoretical, not proven. Diclofenac is not a prodrug, so it does not flip the other way. If you take both and your pain control seems off, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

Schisandra is a traditional Chinese medicine berry used as an adaptogen for stress, fatigue, and liver support.
