Here's the idea behind this pairing. Natalizumab (Tysabri) works by calming down part of your immune system to ease your MS. Selenium, on the other hand, may give your immune system a little nudge in the opposite direction. So in theory, taking concentrated selenium supplements could work against what Tysabri is trying to do and make it slightly less effective at preventing relapses.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. It comes mostly from lab and test-tube studies, not real patients on Tysabri, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The selenium in a normal diet or a basic multivitamin is very unlikely to cause a problem. If you're thinking about a higher-dose selenium product, just run it by your neurologist or pharmacist first.

About Natalizumab Injection

What Is Natalizumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Tysabri

Tysabri is approved for adults with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis — including clinically isolated syndrome, relapsing-remitting disease, and active secondary progressive disease. It is used as a solo therapy (monotherapy) for MS, not combined with other disease-modifying drugs.

Tysabri is also approved to induce and maintain remission in adults with moderately to severely active Crohn's disease when standard treatments and TNF-alpha inhibitors have not worked or cannot be tolerated. In Crohn's disease, it must not be combined with immunosuppressants or TNF-alpha inhibitors.
