Briumvi (ublituximab) is an infused antibody used for relapsing multiple sclerosis. It works by quieting part of your immune system, specifically clearing out certain B cells that drive MS flares. The concern here is the opposite direction: selenium may give the immune system a small nudge in the active direction, so in theory it could work against what Briumvi is trying to do.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. This comes only from lab and early studies, not from people taking Briumvi, so it is more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Normal dietary selenium almost certainly does not matter. If you are considering a concentrated selenium supplement, just run it past your neurologist or pharmacist first.

What Is Ublituximab-xiiy injection Used For?

Brand name: Briumvi

  • Ublituximab-xiiy injection is used to treat adults with various forms of multiple sclerosis (MS; a disease in which the nerves do not function properly and people may experience weakness, numbness, loss of muscle coordination, and problems with vision, speech, and bladder control), including :

    • clinically isolated syndrome (first episode of neurologic symptoms)

    • relapsing-remitting forms (course of disease where symptoms flare up from time to time)

    • secondary progressive forms (course of disease where relapses occur more often).

  • Ublituximab-xiiy injection is in a class of medications called monoclonal antibodies. It works by decreasing the action of immune cells that may cause nerve damage.
