Here's the gist with Levemir (insulin detemir) and Solomon's Seal. Levemir is a long-acting insulin you inject to bring your blood sugar down. The thought is that Solomon's Seal might have its own mild blood-sugar-lowering activity. If that's true, stacking it on top of your insulin could push your numbers lower than you intend, raising the chance of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). That can show up as shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion, or a fast heartbeat.

I want to be honest: this is theoretical, based on how the compounds behave in lab and animal studies, not solid human proof. So don't panic. Here's the thing to keep an eye on with Levemir (insulin detemir). Solomon's Seal has been suggested, mostly from lab and animal work, to possibly lower blood sugar on its own. Levemir (insulin detemir) is used to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults and children with type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes. It is a basal insulin, meaning it works around the clock to keep background blood sugar levels steady.

Levemir is not recommended for treating diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous buildup of acids in the blood that requires a different type of insulin).
