Here's the gist with Solomon's Seal and your Symlin (pramlintide). Pramlintide already works hard to lower your after-meal blood sugar by slowing how fast food leaves your stomach. The thinking is that Solomon's Seal might nudge blood sugar down a little too, and if you stack that on top of pramlintide and your mealtime insulin, you could drift into low blood sugar more easily. Watch for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a fast heartbeat, or confusion.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. This is a theoretical concern based on how the herb behaves in lab and animal studies, not something proven in people. Pramlintide isn't a prodrug, so we're not talking about a metabolism flip here. If you'd like to try it, just check your sugars a bit more closely at first and loop in your pharmacist or doctor before starting.

What Is Pramlintide Injection Used For?

Brand name: Symlin

SymlinPen (pramlintide) is used as an add-on treatment for adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who already use mealtime insulin but still haven't reached their target blood sugar levels — even with optimal insulin therapy.

It is not a replacement for insulin. It works alongside insulin, given right before major meals, to reduce the spike in blood sugar that happens after eating.
