Janumet combines two diabetes medicines, metformin and sitagliptin, that work together to bring your blood sugar down. The concern with Solomon's Seal here is pretty mild and mostly on paper. In lab and animal work, some of its plant compounds may have a small blood-sugar-lowering effect of their own. The worry is that stacking that on top of Janumet could, in theory, push your numbers a little lower than expected.

To be clear, this is theoretical, based on how the herb behaves in the lab, not on solid human studies. If your levels did drop too low, you might feel shaky, sweaty, dizzy, or unusually hungry. The simple move is to keep an eye on your home glucose readings and let your pharmacist or doctor know before adding this herb. Don't change your Janumet on your own.
