Soy + Furazolidone
Furazolidone brand name: Furoxone.
Soy has a minor interaction with Furazolidone. Theoretically, antibiotics may decrease the activity of soy isoflavones.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Furazolidone
Furazolidone falls under ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS — the group Soy interacts with.
Intestinal bacteria are responsible in part for converting soy isoflavones into their active forms. Antibiotics may decrease the amount of intestinal bacteria and decrease its ability to convert isoflavones.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for Furazolidone (Furoxone) and soy: this one runs the opposite direction from most interactions. It isn't furazolidone that gets affected, it's the soy. Your gut bacteria help turn soy isoflavones into their more active forms, and an antibiotic like furazolidone can knock down some of those helpful bacteria. So in theory, you might get a little less benefit from soy isoflavones (the part studied for menopause symptoms and cholesterol) while you're on the antibiotic.
The good news is this is rated minor and is based only on lab-style reasoning, not real patient studies. It won't make furazolidone less effective or cause side effects. Eating soy foods is fine. If you take concentrated soy supplements for a specific reason, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.

This page covers Soy only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Furazolidone page lists 44 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Bacillus Coagulans (moderate), Bacillus Subtilis (moderate), Bifidobacterium Animalis Subsp. Lactis (moderate) and Bifidobacterium Bifidum (moderate).
By severity: 1 major · 33 moderate · 10 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Furazolidone page
“Activated charcoal is the risk to understand first with furazolidone (Furoxone), an antibiotic used for certain gut infections. It is the only entry on this list rated major, and the concern is direct: charcoal binds medicines in the digestive tract and can pull furazolidone's levels down enough that the infection outlasts the treatment.”

About Soy
What is Soy?
- Menopause symptoms (hot flashes)
- Heart and cholesterol health
- Bone health
- Plant-based protein source
- General nutrition
Soy is a nutritious bean that is a staple food and a popular source of plant protein and isoflavones. Eating soy foods as part of a balanced diet is generally considered safe for most people, and there is moderate evidence it may modestly help cholesterol and some menopause symptoms, though results vary. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated soy isoflavone supplements, especially if you have a history of hormone-sensitive conditions.

Furazolidone Is Linked to Lower Levels of 7 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Furazolidone as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Soy — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
