Soy + Ofloxacin
Ofloxacin brand names: Oflox, Floxin, Floxin Injection, Floxin Otic.
Soy has a minor interaction with Ofloxacin. Theoretically, antibiotics may decrease the activity of soy isoflavones.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Ofloxacin
Ofloxacin falls under ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS — the group Soy interacts with.
Intestinal bacteria are responsible in part for converting soy isoflavones into their active forms. Antibiotics may decrease the amount of intestinal bacteria and decrease its ability to convert isoflavones.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's a quick heads-up about pairing soy with ofloxacin. Interestingly, this interaction runs the other direction from what people usually worry about. Ofloxacin won't be made weaker or stronger by soy. Instead, the antibiotic may take a little of the shine off your soy. Your gut bacteria help turn soy isoflavones into their more active forms, and because ofloxacin reduces some of those friendly bacteria, the soy you eat might not work quite as well while you're on it.
The good news: this is theoretical, based only on lab work, and rated minor. Eating soy foods alongside your antibiotic is fine. If you take soy isoflavones for menopause or cholesterol, just know the benefit could dip briefly. As always, run any supplement questions by your pharmacist or doctor.

About Soy
What is Soy?
- Menopause symptoms (hot flashes)
- Heart and cholesterol health
- Bone health
- Plant-based protein source
- General nutrition
Soy is a nutritious bean that is a staple food and a popular source of plant protein and isoflavones. Eating soy foods as part of a balanced diet is generally considered safe for most people, and there is moderate evidence it may modestly help cholesterol and some menopause symptoms, though results vary. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated soy isoflavone supplements, especially if you have a history of hormone-sensitive conditions.
About Ofloxacin
What Is Ofloxacin Used For?
Brand names: Oflox, Floxin, Floxin Injection, Floxin Otic
Ofloxacin is an antibiotic. It only treats infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It does not treat viruses.
Tablets are for adults with mild to moderate infections, including flare-ups of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, uncomplicated skin infections, and certain urethral and cervical infections such as gonorrhea and chlamydia. Eye drops treat bacterial conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers. Ear drops treat otitis externa, chronic suppurative otitis media, and acute otitis media in children with ear tubes.
