Liraglutide Recombinant falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Soy interacts with.
Clinical research shows that whole soy diets and soy-based meals reduce fasting glucose levels in diabetic and non-diabetic individuals. Also, individuals following a soy-based meal replacement plan seem to require lower doses of sulfonylureas and metformin to manage blood glucose levels when compared with individuals following a diet plan recommended by the American Diabetes Association.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: soy itself can gently lower blood sugar, and Saxenda (liraglutide) is also working to bring your numbers down. Put them together and the two can add up. This isn't about soy changing how your body breaks down the drug. Liraglutide is an injected protein, not a pill that needs liver activation, so soy mainly stacks its blood-sugar-lowering effect on top of the medication's.
For most people this is a mild, helpful nudge, but it's worth watching. If your sugar drops too low you might feel shaky, sweaty, dizzy, or unusually hungry. The bigger risk shows up if you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea. Don't change anything on your own. Just let your pharmacist or doctor know how much soy you eat so they can check your readings.

What Is Liraglutide Injection Used For?
Brand name: Saxenda
Saxenda is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for chronic weight management. It is approved for adults with a BMI of 30 or higher, or a BMI of 27 or higher if they also have at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or dyslipidemia (abnormal cholesterol or fat levels). It is also approved for adolescents aged 12 and older who weigh more than 60 kg and meet certain BMI thresholds for obesity.
Saxenda should not be used together with other liraglutide-containing products or any other GLP-1 receptor agonist. Its safety and effectiveness in combination with other prescription or over-the-counter weight-loss products have not been established.
