Here's the thing to know about alteplase (tPA): it's a powerful clot-busting medicine given in a hospital, usually for a stroke, heart attack, or major blood clot. It works fast to break up clots, and its main risk is bleeding. Swallowroot, in lab studies only, seems to make platelets a little less sticky, which could in theory nudge bleeding risk up if both are working at once.

In real life, this overlap is pretty unlikely. Alteplase is an emergency drug your medical team controls closely, and you wouldn't be casually taking a supplement alongside it. The evidence here is also weak (test-tube and animal studies, not people). Still, mention any supplements you use to your doctor or pharmacist so your bleeding risk can be watched.

Swallowroot (Decalepis hamiltonii) is a root used in South Indian folk medicine and as a food flavoring, often pickled or made into a cooling drink. Modern scientific evidence for its health benefits in people is very limited, resting mostly on laboratory and animal studies, so its effectiveness is not proven. If you are considering it, talk with your pharmacist or doctor first, especially during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
