Here's the short version: this isn't about Sweet Annie changing how Empliciti works in your body. Elotuzumab is an antibody given by infusion, and it isn't activated or cleared by the liver enzymes that herbs usually tinker with. The real concern is simpler, both can be tough on the liver. Elotuzumab regimens (often with dexamethasone plus lenalidomide or pomalidomide) can raise liver enzymes, and Sweet Annie has been linked to liver irritation too.

Stacking two things that may stress the liver could add up. Keep in mind this is theoretical and based only on anecdotal reports, so don't panic. Still, please check with your oncology team or pharmacist before adding Sweet Annie, since they're already watching your liver labs.

Sweet Annie (Artemisia annua) is the source of artemisinin, a compound used in prescription antimalarial drugs. About Elotuzumab Injection

What Is Elotuzumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Empliciti

Empliciti is used to treat multiple myeloma (a cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow) in adults who have already tried other treatments. It is always given as part of a combination regimen — never alone.

Empliciti combined with lenalidomide and dexamethasone is used in adults who have received one to three prior therapies. Empliciti combined with pomalidomide and dexamethasone is used in adults who have received at least two prior therapies, including lenalidomide and a proteasome inhibitor.
