Buproprion, Dextromethorphan falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Tinospora Cordifolia interacts with.

Theoretically, Tinospora cordifolia might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro research shows that Tinospora cordifolia extract inhibits CYP2D6 at high concentrations. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Auvelity combines bupropion and dextromethorphan, and this pairing is actually designed around CYP2D6. The bupropion deliberately blocks that enzyme so the dextromethorphan sticks around long enough to work in your brain. Dextromethorphan itself is broken down by CYP2D6, so anything else that slows this enzyme can let its levels climb higher.

In test-tube studies, Tinospora cordifolia (Giloy) appears to block CYP2D6 too, but only at high concentrations, and this has never been seen in real people. If it did add up, you might notice more dizziness, drowsiness, or nausea. The evidence here is weak and theoretical, so don't panic, but since this combo is sensitive to CYP2D6, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Giloy.
