Here's the thing to keep in mind: prednisolone often works by calming down an overactive immune system, which is exactly what you want when treating things like arthritis flares, asthma, or preventing transplant rejection. Giloy (Tinospora cordifolia) has the opposite goal in lab and animal studies, where it seems to rev up the immune system. So in theory, taking the two together could push against each other and make your prednisolone work a little less well.

I want to be honest about the evidence, though. This concern comes from test tube and animal research, not from solid human studies, so it's more of a 'use caution' situation than a proven problem. If you're on prednisolone for something serious like a transplant or autoimmune condition, please check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding Giloy.

Prednisolone is prescribed for many different conditions where inflammation or an overactive immune system is causing harm. These range from severe allergic reactions and asthma to certain skin diseases, blood disorders, eye problems, and some cancers.

It is also used to support the body when the adrenal glands aren't making enough of their own steroids, and to manage flares of conditions like ulcerative colitis, multiple sclerosis, and nephrotic syndrome (a kidney condition causing protein loss in the urine).
