Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Flibanserin
Flibanserin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES — the group Tinospora Cordifolia interacts with.
In vitro research shows that Tinospora cordifolia extract inhibits CYP2C19 at high concentrations. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist of it. Flibanserin (Addyi) is an active drug, not a prodrug, and your body partly relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2C19 to clear it out. Lab research suggests Tinospora cordifolia (Giloy) may slow that same enzyme down, at least at high concentrations in a test tube. If that happened in a person, Flibanserin could build up and hang around longer, which might mean more of its known side effects like dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, and especially low blood pressure or fainting.
I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is only theoretical, based on lab studies, and has never actually been reported in real patients. So I'm not trying to alarm you. Still, because fainting is a real concern with Addyi, please run this combination by your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two.
