Here's the simple version: white mulberry leaf can gently lower blood sugar on its own, mostly by slowing how fast sugar is absorbed after a meal. Your Glucovance already does the heavy lifting here, since glyburide pushes your body to make more insulin and metformin lowers sugar too. Stack a concentrated mulberry supplement on top, and the two could add up and drop your blood sugar a little too far.

The glyburide piece is what to watch, because it can cause real low blood sugar: shakiness, sweating, dizziness, hunger, or feeling confused. To be clear, this is a theoretical concern based on how mulberry works, not strong proof. Tea or food amounts are unlikely to matter much. If you want to try a supplement, check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your glucose readings.

Theoretically, white mulberry leaf might slow the elimination and increase the adverse effects of drugs which are OCT2 substrates.
Animal research shows that coadministration of white mulberry leaf extract with metformin, an OCT2 substrate, slows the renal elimination of metformin via inhibition of OCT2 activity. OCT2 is expressed in the kidneys and is responsible for transporting cationic drugs into tubular epithelial cells in order to be excreted in the urine.

Here's the gist with Glucovance (glyburide and metformin) plus white mulberry. Your kidneys use a little transporter called OCT2 to push metformin out into your urine. In lab and animal studies, white mulberry leaf seems to slow that transporter down, which could let metformin linger in your body a bit longer than usual. If that happened, you might notice more of metformin's usual effects, like upset stomach, nausea, or loose stools, and possibly lower blood sugar overall. White mulberry can also nudge blood sugar down on its own, and glyburide already lowers it, so watch for shakiness, sweating, or feeling lightheaded.

Keep in mind this is theoretical, based on animal data, not human studies. A cup of tea probably isn't a big deal, but concentrated supplements are worth running past your pharmacist or doctor first.
