Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the simple version: white mulberry leaf may gently lower your blood sugar on its own, mostly by slowing how quickly sugar from meals gets absorbed. Your bovine insulin (Hypurin Bovine Neutral) already does the heavy lifting of bringing blood sugar down. Stack the two together and the lowering effects can add up, so there's a chance your sugar could drop lower than you expect.

If that happens, you might feel shaky, sweaty, dizzy, irritable, or get a fast heartbeat, the usual signs of low blood sugar. This concern is mostly theoretical and based on how mulberry works, not strong studies, and a little mulberry tea is unlikely to matter much. Still, concentrated supplements deserve caution. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it, and keep an eye on your glucose readings.
