60 Billion Probiotic Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking 60 Billion Probiotic against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of 60 Billion Probiotic by Physician's Choice
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains 13 active ingredients: five Lactobacillus strains (salivarius, plantarum, paracasei, acidophilus, and casei), five Bifidobacterium strains (animalis lactis, bifidum, longum, and breve), Lactobacillus bulgaricus, and a prebiotic blend with chicory, Jerusalem Artichoke, and Acacia senegal. These are live probiotic cultures—beneficial bacteria meant to support gut health—plus prebiotics, which are fibers those bacteria can feed on.
The inactive ingredients are rice flour, a vegetable capsule, rice extract, gum Arabic, and sunflower oil.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for individual probiotics in this blend is mixed. Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum are each possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome and show promise for other conditions, but most of the other strains have insufficient evidence to rate them for specific uses.
Chicory and the other prebiotic ingredients in this product don't have established effectiveness data in our files for any particular condition. The bottom line: we don't yet know what this particular combination will do for you.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children, but the facts note that people who are very ill or have weakened immune systems should be cautious. Live probiotic organisms can rarely cause infection in those groups.
Common mild side effects include bloating, flatulence, and abdominal discomfort, though these are uncommon. Chicory can cause gas and bloating and may trigger allergies in sensitive people, especially those allergic to ragweed or related plants.
The safety data advise against chicory in medicinal amounts during pregnancy. For lactation, there isn't enough data on file to know if this product is safe.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your exact medications against this product before you start, especially if you take antibiotic drugs (space them several hours apart from this product) or antidiabetes drugs (chicory may lower blood sugar further). No other interactions are documented for the ingredients we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you have IBS or are managing antibiotic-associated diarrhea, the probiotic strains in this product have some evidence behind them. But if you take antibiotics or diabetes medication, you'll need to coordinate the timing or check with your pharmacist first.
Anyone who is very ill or immune-compromised should talk with their doctor before starting any probiotic.

60 Billion Probiotic by Physician's Choice Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Physician's Choice 60 Billion Probiotic contains 13 ingredients, several of which we could not check for interactions.
However, we did find interaction data for six of them—five probiotic strains and chicory—and they do interact with medications.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The most serious concern is with antibiotic drugs (Moderate severity). Five of the probiotic strains in this product—Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus bulgaricus (delbrueckii), Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium longum, and Bifidobacterium breve—may each have their effectiveness reduced if you take them at the same time as antibiotics.
Since these probiotics contain live organisms, antibiotics can kill them off. The solution is to space out your doses: take your antibiotic and the probiotic several hours apart, or ask your pharmacist for specific timing.
Chicory in this product also carries a Moderate interaction with antidiabetes drugs (medications that lower blood sugar). Chicory may theoretically increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) when combined with these drugs.
If you take diabetes medication, mention this product to your pharmacist or doctor before starting it.
We could not check Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus paracasei, Bifidobacterium animalis lactis, Lactobacillus casei, organic Jerusalem Artichoke, or organic Acacia senegal because we hold no data for them. Altogether, these interactions span 267 individual medications.

Probiotic Blend
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
organic Chicory
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, chicory might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal and in vitro research shows that chicory extracts have antidiabetic effects.
