Abx Support Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Klaire Labs
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Abx Support against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Abx Support by Klaire Labs
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Abx Support contains four active ingredients, all of them probiotics — live microorganisms meant to support your gut health. You've got two types of Bifidobacterium (bifidum and breve), Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and Saccharomyces boulardii, which is a beneficial yeast.
They come in a vegetarian capsule.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for these probiotics is mixed. Saccharomyces boulardii has the strongest track record — it's possibly effective for rotaviral diarrhea, traveler's diarrhea, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and a few other gut and infection conditions.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome and respiratory tract infections. For many other uses — hay fever, anxiety, cognitive decline — the evidence we hold either isn't there yet or is too limited to say whether these probiotics help.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy people. However, if you have a weakened immune system or are critically ill, you should talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product — there are rare reports of serious infections in those populations.
Bloating and flatulence can happen with any probiotic, though they haven't been specifically reported from these strains. One case of vomiting and fever in a child taking a mix of these probiotics was reported in a study, but it's unclear whether the probiotics caused it.
The safety data overall is limited, so check with your healthcare provider before starting.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Double-check antibiotic drugs with your pharmacist before starting Abx Support — you'll need to take them at different times of day to keep both effective. If you're on antifungal medications, mention those too.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a multi-strain probiotic meant for gut support, with the strongest evidence backing its use for diarrhea-related conditions. If you're on antibiotics, you'll need to time this supplement carefully — separate doses by a few hours.
If you're immunocompromised or critically ill, talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Abx Support by Klaire Labs Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Abx Support by Klaire Labs contains probiotics that interact with certain medications.
The most serious concern is with antibiotic drugs: both Bifidobacterium bifidum and Bifidobacterium breve may lose effectiveness if taken at the same time as antibiotics, since antibiotics can kill the beneficial bacteria in the supplement. To avoid this, separate when you take them — your pharmacist can help you figure out the right timing.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Saccharomyces boulardii, another probiotic in this product, can theoretically be reduced in effectiveness by antifungal medications, which may kill the live yeast organism.
We couldn't check Lactobacillus rhamnosus against our interaction data, so we can't comment on whether it affects your medications. Use the medication checker on this page to look up your exact prescriptions.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
