What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: certified organic Astragalus dried root liquid extract. Astragalus is a traditional herbal root that's been used in Chinese medicine for centuries.
The liquid form makes it easy to take by mouth. There is also one inactive ingredient (menstruum, a liquid carrier used in extracts).
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for astragalus isn't well established in the data we hold. The facts list several conditions it's been studied for — hay fever, amenorrhea (absent periods), aplastic anemia, angina, asthma, and beta-thalassemia — but all of them are rated as having insufficient reliable evidence to rate its effectiveness.
That means the research so far doesn't give us a clear answer about whether it actually works for any of these.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Astragalus is generally well tolerated in short-term use in healthy adults, but reliable human safety data is limited. Some people in clinical trials reported dizziness, and there's one report of a type of chest pain called lacunar angina, though it's unclear if astragalus actually caused it.
When given by intravenous injection, it's been associated with rash, eczema, and itching. The safety data advises against using astragalus during pregnancy or while breastfeeding because there isn't enough information to know it's safe.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take immunosuppressants, lithium, diabetes medications, or cyclophosphamide — all have documented Moderate interactions with astragalus. These cover a wide range of individual medications, so it's important to confirm your exact prescriptions.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a single-ingredient astragalus supplement that's generally well tolerated short-term in healthy people, but the evidence for what it actually does isn't clear yet. If you take immunosuppressants, lithium, diabetes drugs, or cyclophosphamide, you should check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting it.
If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any medical conditions, talk it over with your healthcare provider first.

Astragalus by Herbal Terra Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Astragalus by Herbal Terra can interact with several important medication types.
The most serious concern is with immunosuppressants (drugs that weaken your immune system on purpose, like those taken after transplants or for severe autoimmune conditions) — astragalus seems to stimulate immune function, which might reduce how well these medications work.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
You'll also want to be careful if you take lithium for bipolar disorder. Astragalus has diuretic properties (it may increase urine output), which could theoretically reduce how much lithium your body clears, potentially raising its levels and side effects.
There's also a Moderate concern with cyclophosphamide, a chemotherapy drug — the evidence is mixed on whether astragalus interferes with it. Additionally, if you take diabetes medications, astragalus might lower your blood sugar further, raising the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
Altogether, these interactions span 208 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page to look up any drugs you're on before you start, and talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist.
