Cardio Peak Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Cardio Peak against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Cardio Peak by Life Extension
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Cardio Peak contains two active ingredients: Rejuna (a form of Terminalia, a tree extract traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine) and Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins (a type of plant compound found in grape seeds and other sources). The product is rounded out with inactive ingredients — cellulose, maltodextrin, microcrystalline cellulose, stearate, and silica — which are fillers and binders that help form the capsule.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for Rejuna's effectiveness in Cardio Peak isn't yet established. Our data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate how well it works for obesity, high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), high blood pressure (hypertension), or angina.
No effectiveness ratings are on file for the Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins in this product either.
How safe is it?
Some data gaps
Rejuna is generally well tolerated in short-term studies, though long-term safety data and product quality vary depending on the brand and batch. The safety information isn't robust enough to recommend this ingredient during pregnancy or while breastfeeding — the data advises against both.
No adverse effects from clinical trials are recorded in our data.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Cardio Peak, double-check with your pharmacist if you're on any CYP2D6, CYP2C9, or CYP3A4 substrate medications (Rejuna slows how your body clears these), blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs, diabetes medications, chlorzoxazone (a muscle relaxant), or omeprazole (heartburn medication). All of these interactions are rated Moderate severity.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and some safety-information gaps remain.
Cardio Peak may interest someone looking to support heart health, but it's not a simple add-on if you take prescription medications. The Rejuna ingredient can slow how your liver clears a large number of drugs, which may raise their levels and side effects.
Talk with your pharmacist before starting, especially if you take blood thinners, diabetes drugs, muscle relaxants, or heartburn medication — and avoid it in pregnancy and while nursing.

Cardio Peak by Life Extension Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Cardio Peak by Life Extension contains an ingredient, Rejuna (Terminalia), that interacts with multiple medication types.
The most serious finding involves three separate enzyme systems in your liver that break down drugs: CYP2D6, CYP2C9, and CYP3A4 substrates. Terminalia can slow how your body clears these medications, raising their blood levels and potentially their side effects — all rated Moderate severity.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Beyond enzyme interactions, Rejuna also theoretically increases bleeding risk if you're on blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin or aspirin), and it may affect blood sugar control if you take diabetes medications. Two specific drugs warrant mention: chlorzoxazone (a muscle relaxant) and omeprazole (a heartburn medication) — animal research suggests Rejuna can raise their blood levels.
We could not check the second ingredient, Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins, because we hold no interaction data for it. Altogether, these interactions span 922 individual medications.
Before you start Cardio Peak, use the medication checker on this page to confirm your exact prescriptions won't be affected.

Rejuna
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of Terminalia arjuna with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs may increase the risk of bleeding in some patients.
In vitro, Terminalia arjuna bark extract inhibits platelet aggregation, decreases platelet activation, and shows antithrombotic properties.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of Terminalia bellirica or Terminalia chebula with antidiabetes drugs could affect blood sugar control and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal and in vitro research shows that Terminalia bellirica and Terminalia chebula fruit and seed extract have hypoglycemic effects.
Chlorzoxazone (Parafon Forte, Paraflex)
Theoretically, use of Terminalia chebula may increase the risk of adverse effects from chlorzoxazone.
Animal research shows that enteral administration of Terminalia chebula for 15 days prior to administration of chlorzoxazone increases blood levels of chlorzoxazone and decreases chlorzoxazone clearance. It is speculated that Terminalia chebula reduces the metabolism of chlorzoxazone by inhibiting cytochrome P450 2E1.
Cytochrome P450 2C9 (Cyp2C9) Substrates
Theoretically, use of Terminalia arjuna may increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2C9 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Terminalia arjuna extract inhibits CYP2C9 enzymes and reduces CYP2C9 substrate metabolism.
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
Theoretically, use of Terminalia arjuna may increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Terminalia arjuna extract inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes and reduces CYP2D6 substrate metabolism.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, use of Terminalia arjuna may increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Terminalia arjuna extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes and reduces CYP3A4 substrate metabolism.
Omeprazole (Prilosec)
Theoretically, use of Terminalia chebula may increase the risk of adverse effects from omeprazole.
Animal research shows that enteral administration of Terminalia chebula for 15 days prior to administration of omeprazole increases blood levels of omeprazole and decreases omeprazole clearance. It is speculated that Terminalia chebula reduces the metabolism of omeprazole by inhibiting cytochrome P450 2C19.
