What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: coenzyme Q10 at 120 mg per capsule. CoQ10 is a compound your cells make naturally and use to produce energy.
The capsule also includes inactive ingredients—hypoallergenic plant fiber, cellulose, and water—that serve as the filler and capsule material.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Coenzyme Q10 is rated likely effective for CoQ10 deficiency. It's rated possibly effective for fibromyalgia, migraine headaches, congestive heart failure, and diabetic nerve pain.
The strength of evidence varies by condition, and not all uses have strong clinical backing. Talk with your doctor about whether CoQ10 fits your particular health goal.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
CoQ10 is generally well tolerated when taken as directed. In clinical studies, no serious side effects have been reported.
The most common minor effects are gastrointestinal—appetite suppression, diarrhea, heartburn, nausea, or vomiting—occurring in less than 1% of people. Headache, dizziness, and insomnia have been reported rarely.
Dividing daily doses above 100 mg may help reduce stomach upset. There isn't enough safety data during pregnancy to know either way, so the guidance is to avoid it unless your doctor advises otherwise.
Safety while breastfeeding hasn't been well studied either; check with your doctor for personalized advice.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your medications before starting—particularly if you take warfarin or another blood thinner, since coenzyme Q10 may reduce its effectiveness. Also flag any chemotherapy drugs (especially alkylating agents like cyclophosphamide) or blood pressure medications you're on, as coenzyme Q10 may interfere with or add to their effects.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
CoQ10 may help with energy production and has possible benefits for migraine, heart failure, and nerve pain, but it can reduce how warfarin and some chemotherapy drugs work. If you take any blood thinner, blood pressure medication, or cancer drug, run this supplement through the interaction checker before you start.
Talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist to make sure it's right for your situation.

CoQ10 120 mg by Pure Encapsulations Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Pure Encapsulations CoQ10 120 mg contains coenzyme Q10, which has documented interactions with blood thinners, chemotherapy drugs, and blood pressure medications.
The most serious concern is with warfarin (Coumadin)—a blood thinner—where coenzyme Q10 may reduce warfarin's effectiveness by acting somewhat like vitamin K. Four cases of decreased warfarin effectiveness tied to coenzyme Q10 have been reported.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Coenzyme Q10 may also interfere with alkylating agents (chemotherapy drugs like cyclophosphamide) by reducing the free radicals these drugs rely on to kill cancer cells. Additionally, coenzyme Q10 might add to the blood-pressure-lowering effects of antihypertensive drugs, though the research on its blood pressure impact is mixed.
Although we hold data for coenzyme Q10's interactions, we could not check several inactive ingredients in this product for drug interactions. Altogether, these interactions span 198 individual medications.
Before you start this supplement, use the interaction checker on this page or talk with your doctor or pharmacist about your current medications—especially if you're on a blood thinner, chemotherapy, or a blood pressure medication.

For each ingredient in CoQ10 120 mg with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Coenzyme Q-10
Alkylating Agents
Coenzyme Q10 has antioxidant effects. Theoretically, this may reduce the activity of chemotherapy drugs that generate free radicals.
Theoretically, antioxidants such as coenzyme Q10 might protect tumor cells from chemotherapeutic agents that work by inducing oxidative stress, such as alkylating agents (e.g., cyclophosphamide) and radiation therapy. The clinical importance of this interaction is unknown.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Coenzyme Q10 is chemically similar to menaquinone and might have vitamin K-like procoagulant effects, which could decrease the effects of warfarin.
Concomitant use of coenzyme Q10 and warfarin might reduce the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. Four cases of decreased warfarin efficacy thought to be due to coenzyme Q10 have been reported. However, there is some preliminary clinical research that suggests coenzyme Q10 might not significantly decrease the effects of warfarin in patients who have a stable INR.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, coenzyme Q10 might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical research shows that coenzyme Q10 can significantly lower blood pressure, although other studies have shown conflicting results.
