HelloPharmacist Scorecard of CoQ10 30 mg by Pure Encapsulations
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: coenzyme Q10 at 30 mg per capsule. CoQ10 is a compound your body makes naturally and stores in cells to help generate energy and act as an antioxidant.
The capsule itself is made from cellulose and water.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
The evidence supporting CoQ10 varies by condition. It's rated likely effective for CoQ10 deficiency itself.
For fibromyalgia, migraine headaches, congestive heart failure, and diabetic nerve pain (diabetic neuropathy), the evidence is rated possibly effective — meaning there's some promising research, but we need more to be confident. If you're considering it for one of these uses, talk with your pharmacist about what the current evidence shows for your specific situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
CoQ10 is generally well tolerated by most adults at the dose in this product. Gastrointestinal side effects — appetite suppression, diarrhea, heartburn, nausea, or vomiting — are the most common reported, though they occur in less than 1% of people.
Headache, dizziness, insomnia, and skin itching or rash have been reported rarely. Regarding pregnancy, there isn't enough reliable safety data, so your doctor should weigh the risks and benefits if you're pregnant.
For breastfeeding, safety data is limited — discuss this with your doctor before using.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this CoQ10, double-check with your pharmacist if you're on warfarin or other blood thinners (Moderate interaction), chemotherapy drugs called alkylating agents (Moderate), or blood pressure medications (Minor). These are the main drug types where CoQ10 has documented interactions.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
CoQ10 may be worth considering if you have a CoQ10 deficiency or are exploring it for migraine, heart health, or nerve pain — but the evidence is strongest for deficiency. If you take warfarin, blood pressure medications, or chemotherapy, check with your pharmacist first.

CoQ10 30 mg by Pure Encapsulations Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Pure Encapsulations CoQ10 30 mg contains coenzyme Q10, which has documented interactions with three drug types.
The most serious concern is with chemotherapy drugs called alkylating agents (Moderate severity). Because CoQ10 is an antioxidant, it may theoretically reduce how well these cancer medications work — they rely on generating free radicals to kill tumor cells, and CoQ10's protective effect could shield cancer cells from that damage.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Warfarin (Coumadin), a blood thinner, also interacts at Moderate severity. CoQ10 is chemically similar to vitamin K and may have blood-clotting effects that could weaken warfarin's ability to prevent clots.
A handful of cases of reduced warfarin effectiveness have been reported when CoQ10 was added. Blood pressure medications interact at Minor severity — CoQ10 may have a slight additive effect that could lower your blood pressure further, though research on this is mixed.
Altogether, these interactions span 198 individual medications. If you take any of these drug types — especially warfarin or chemotherapy — check your exact medications with the search tool below before starting CoQ10.

For each ingredient in CoQ10 30 mg with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Coenzyme Q-10
Alkylating Agents
Coenzyme Q10 has antioxidant effects. Theoretically, this may reduce the activity of chemotherapy drugs that generate free radicals.
Theoretically, antioxidants such as coenzyme Q10 might protect tumor cells from chemotherapeutic agents that work by inducing oxidative stress, such as alkylating agents (e.g., cyclophosphamide) and radiation therapy. The clinical importance of this interaction is unknown.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Coenzyme Q10 is chemically similar to menaquinone and might have vitamin K-like procoagulant effects, which could decrease the effects of warfarin.
Concomitant use of coenzyme Q10 and warfarin might reduce the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. Four cases of decreased warfarin efficacy thought to be due to coenzyme Q10 have been reported. However, there is some preliminary clinical research that suggests coenzyme Q10 might not significantly decrease the effects of warfarin in patients who have a stable INR.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, coenzyme Q10 might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical research shows that coenzyme Q10 can significantly lower blood pressure, although other studies have shown conflicting results.
