What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: American ginseng at 250 mg per tablet. The tablet also includes inactive ingredients—cellulose, di-calcium phosphate, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, and silica—which are fillers and binders that give the tablet its form.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
American ginseng is possibly effective for upper respiratory tract infections (colds and sore throats). For anemia of chronic disease and breast cancer, the evidence isn't established enough in the data we hold to rate it.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
American ginseng is generally well tolerated in the short term for healthy adults, but product quality and dosing can vary, and long-term safety hasn't been well studied. The safety data advises against use during pregnancy and breastfeeding because there isn't enough information to confirm it's safe in those situations.
Meds to double-check

Before taking this product, check with your pharmacist if you take warfarin or other blood thinners, diabetes medications, immunosuppressants, or monoamine oxidase inhibitors (older antidepressants like phenelzine). These are the drug types with documented interactions.

Ginseng 250 mg by Essential Being Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Ginseng 250 mg by Essential Being contains American ginseng, which does interact with several medications.
The most serious concern is with warfarin (Coumadin), a blood thinner. American ginseng seems to reduce how well warfarin works, which could lower your INR (a measure of blood clotting) and potentially increase your clot risk.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Moderate interactions occur with three drug categories. Immunosuppressants used after transplant or for autoimmune conditions may become less effective, since ginseng appears to boost immune function.
Diabetes medications (including insulin and oral agents) carry a risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) because ginseng can lower blood glucose on its own. Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)—older antidepressants like phenelzine—have been linked in case reports to insomnia, headache, tremors, and mood changes when combined with ginseng.
Altogether, these interactions span 212 individual medications. Use the interaction checker below to search your exact medications before starting this supplement.
