Glutamine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults. The most common side effects reported with oral use are belching, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal pain, headache, and musculoskeletal pain — especially at higher doses (10–30 grams daily).
A few rare cases of dizziness and mood changes (mania or hypomania) have been reported in people with bipolar disorder. If you have kidney or liver disease, only use this product under your doctor's supervision.
L-Glutamine is rated likely safe in pregnancy and lactation, but not enough safety data exists for supplemental doses while breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice.
