HMF Multi Strain contains 14 active ingredients, all of them live microorganisms (probiotics). The blend includes multiple strains of Lactobacillus species — rhamnosus, paracasei, acidophilus, salivarius, plantarum, casei, fermentum, and gasseri — along with several Bifidobacterium strains and Streptococcus thermophilus.
These are bacteria your gut naturally hosts; the idea is that supplementing them supports digestive and immune function. The inactive ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose (a plant-based filler), hypromellose (a capsule material), sunflower lecithin, and silica.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence behind these probiotics is mixed and depends on the strain and condition. Bifidobacterium lactis (in two formulations here) and Lactobacillus acidophilus (also in two formulations) are rated Possibly Effective for respiratory tract infections, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and constipation.
Lactobacillus acidophilus is also Possibly Effective for Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis. However, many conditions tested — allergic rhinitis, asthma, common cold, and others — either lack enough reliable evidence or have been rated Possibly Ineffective.
Streptococcus thermophilus shows Insufficient Reliable Evidence for every condition we have data on.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Most of these probiotics are generally well tolerated by healthy people when taken as directed. The most common side effect reported is diarrhea, and some people experience bloating, flatulence, abdominal pain, or other mild gastrointestinal complaints — though these are uncommon.
In rare cases, probiotics containing live organisms have been associated with infections (bacteremia, sepsis) in people with very weak immune systems, central lines, or critical illness. Healthy people with intact immunity are at much lower risk.
Two cases of rash, one with itching, were reported in a trial combining some of these exact strains, but it's unclear whether the rash came from one organism, the combination, or individual sensitivity. Data on safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding are not established for most of these ingredients.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
