What is this page for?

What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains 3 active ingredients. Neptune Krill Oil is a marine source of omega-3 fatty acids and phospholipids, which support heart and eye health.
ApresFLEX Boswellia serrata extract comes from tree resin and is traditionally used to ease joint discomfort. Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is a plant-derived omega-6 fatty acid that supports joint and skin health.
The softgel also includes inactive ingredients like gelatin, sorbitol, glycerin, soybean oil, and an enteric coating.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Krill oil is possibly effective for dry eye symptoms. The evidence for its use in aging skin, Alzheimer disease, cancer prevention, high cholesterol, and cognitive function is insufficient — we don't have enough reliable data to rate it.
Boswellia serrata extract is possibly effective for osteoarthritis. Evidence is insufficient for hay fever, Alzheimer disease, asthma, and cluster headache.
GLA's effectiveness for any condition is not rated in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Both krill oil and Boswellia serrata are generally well tolerated at typical doses. Most side effects from krill oil are mild and gastrointestinal — bloating, diarrhea, nausea, fishy burps, heartburn, and stomach upset — and tend to be less severe than those from fish oil.
Boswellia serrata may cause abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache, heartburn, nausea, dizziness, or vertigo; roughly 11% of users in one study reported headache. A very rare serious effect is bezoar formation (a mass in the stomach) from very large amounts of gum resin.
Avoid krill oil if you have a shellfish allergy and use caution if you have a bleeding disorder. Boswellia serrata safety data during pregnancy advises against use; there is not enough data during breastfeeding either.
There is not enough reliable safety data for krill oil in pregnancy or breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product if you use blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs — krill oil may increase bleeding risk. Also double-check if you take diabetes medications (moderate risk of low blood sugar), immunosuppressant drugs, or any medication metabolized by CYP2D6, CYP2C19, CYP1A2, CYP2C9, or CYP3A4 enzymes, since Boswellia serrata may alter their blood levels.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product may help with dry eyes (krill oil) or joint discomfort from osteoarthritis (Boswellia serrata), though the evidence for many claims is still developing. If you take blood thinners, diabetes drugs, or medications processed by your liver's CYP enzymes — a large group — you'll want to check your exact prescriptions with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
Avoid this product if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, allergic to shellfish, or have a bleeding disorder.

Krill Oil 1000 +Joint Support by GNC Triple Strength Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
GNC Triple Strength Krill Oil 1000 +Joint Support interacts with medications through its krill oil and Boswellia serrata extract content.
The most serious documented interaction is a Moderate-severity risk of increased bleeding when combined with blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin or aspirin) from the krill oil's omega-3 fatty acids, which may slow clot formation.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Boswellia serrata in this product may increase blood levels of several types of medications that your liver processes. These include drugs metabolized by CYP2D6, CYP2C19, CYP1A2, CYP2C9, and CYP3A4 enzymes — a broad group that covers many common prescriptions.
Higher drug levels in your blood could amplify side effects. Additionally, Boswellia serrata may theoretically interfere with how immunosuppressant drugs (medications that calm an overactive immune system) work.
Krill oil also raises a Moderate-severity concern for low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) if you take diabetes medications, though evidence in people is mixed. We could not check gamma-linolenic acid for interactions.
Altogether, these interactions span 1,080 individual medications.

Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, Boswellia serrata might increase or decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Boswellia serrata gum resin inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Other in vitro research shows that Boswellia serrata extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes at most concentrations, although it may modestly induce enzyme activity at low concentrations.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, Boswellia serrata might alter the effects of immunosuppressive drugs.
Some in vitro research suggests that Boswellia serrata extracts might inhibit mediators of autoimmune disorders such as leukotrienes and reduce production of antibodies and cell-mediated immunity. However, other in vitro research suggests that, when coupled with calcium ions, boswellic acids containing the keto group have immunostimulant properties within specific cell signaling pathways.
Neptune Krill Oil(TM)
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, krill oil may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Taking high doses of omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil can modestly decrease platelet aggregation. Since krill oil also contains these fatty acids, taking high doses of krill oil might also inhibit platelet aggregation. Theoretically, taking high doses of krill oil with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs might increase the risk of bleeding. However, the omega-3 content of krill oil is much lower than that of fish oil.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking krill oil with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Some research in animals and humans shows that krill oil might lower blood glucose levels. However, a small study shows that taking krill oil does not reduce blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes, most of whom were taking antidiabetes drugs.
