Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use — see Lion's Mane Mushroom's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: cognitive support and memory.
  • We looked for evidence on: Memory, Cognitive function, Cognitive impairment, Dementia, Alzheimer disease, Parkinson disease — and 3 related terms.
  • The closest evidence on file: Lion's Mane Mushroom is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Alzheimer disease (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Lion's Mane Mushroom is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Cognitive function, Cognitive impairment, Dementia, Memory, and more.

The evidence for Lion's Mane isn't established in the data we hold. We lack reliable evidence to rate its use for Alzheimer disease, anxiety, athletic performance, cancer, cognitive function, or cognitive impairment.

That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means the studies so far aren't solid enough to say either way. You'd want to talk with your doctor about whether there's emerging research that might apply to your situation.

How safe is it?

Some data gaps
Safety Information · database check
Some gaps

Safety data exists for these ingredients, but with some important gaps.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 0 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Lion's Mane is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth. The most common side effects reported are gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, and skin rash.

However, long-term supplement safety hasn't been well studied, so caution is warranted with extended use. There isn't enough safety data to recommend this product during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

If you're pregnant, nursing, or planning to become pregnant, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?

  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs; immunosuppressants / transplant drugs; diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 327 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before you take this product, double-check with your pharmacist or doctor if you're on blood thinners (anticoagulants or antiplatelets), diabetes medications, or immunosuppressants. Lion's Mane may increase bleeding risk, lower blood sugar further, or interfere with immune therapy.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and some safety-information gaps remain.

Lion's Mane may be worth considering if you're interested in cognitive or immune support, but the evidence for specific conditions isn't strong yet. If you take blood thinners, diabetes medications, or immunosuppressants, you'll need to check with your own doctor or pharmacist first — the interactions could affect how those drugs work.

Yes. Based on its ingredients, Lion's Mane 20:1 Concentrated Extract has a known interaction with 327 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Lion's Mane 20:1 Concentrated Extract contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.

Can I take Lion's Mane if I'm on a blood thinner like warfarin?
Lab research suggests Lion's Mane might increase bleeding risk when combined with blood thinners, so this is a Moderate concern. Don't start it without checking with your doctor or pharmacist first — they'll know your full picture and can advise whether it's safe for you.
What side effects should I watch for?
The most common ones reported are gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, and skin rash. These tend to be mild, but if any develop or persist, stop taking it and tell your doctor.

Does Lion's Mane actually improve memory or focus?
The evidence isn't established well enough for us to say it works for cognitive function, memory, or brain health conditions like Alzheimer disease. You might see emerging research out there, but reliable clinical data is still lacking.
Can I take this long-term safely?
Lion's Mane is generally well tolerated as a food, but long-term supplement safety hasn't been well studied. If you're planning to take it regularly, it's worth discussing with your doctor to make sure it's right for you over time.
