The capsule itself is made from inactive ingredients — cellulose, dibasic calcium phosphate dihydrate, hypromellose, and magnesium stearate — which are fillers and binders that hold the mineral in place.

Strong evidence
Manganese is effective for treating manganese deficiency, which is rare in people eating a typical diet. For other conditions — hay fever (allergic rhinitis), osteoporosis, COPD, obesity, and osteoarthritis — the evidence we hold is insufficient to say whether manganese works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Manganese is generally well tolerated at normal dietary doses. The real concern is high-dose supplements.
The safety data advises against extra high-dose supplements unless a clinician tells you otherwise. High doses carry a risk of neurotoxicity, including Parkinson-like symptoms.
One severe case reported irreversible Parkinson disease in someone taking 100 mg daily for 2 to 4 years. Manganese intoxication can also damage the liver.
Because of these risks, don't take more than you're advised to take, and if you're considering this supplement for a condition other than manganese deficiency, check with your doctor or pharmacist first.

Antipsychotic Drugs
Theoretically, the risk for manganese toxicity might increase when taken with antipsychotic drugs.
Hallucinations and behavioral changes have been reported in a patient with liver disease who was taking haloperidol and manganese. Researchers speculate that taking manganese along with haloperidol, phenothiazine-derivatives, or other antipsychotic medications might increase the risk of manganese toxicity in some patients.
Quinolone Antibiotics
Theoretically, manganese might reduce the absorption of quinolone antibiotics.
Manganese is a multivalent cation. Interactions resulting in reduced quinolone absorption have been reported between quinolones and other multivalent cations, such as calcium and iron.
Tetracycline Antibiotics
Theoretically, manganese might reduce the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics.
