Hallucinations and behavioral changes have been reported in a patient with liver disease who was taking haloperidol and manganese. Researchers speculate that taking manganese along with haloperidol, phenothiazine-derivatives, or other antipsychotic medications might increase the risk of manganese toxicity in some patients.

Here's the thing to know about pairing manganese supplements with Aristada (aripiprazole lauroxil): this isn't a case of one changing the blood level of the other. Instead, the concern runs the other direction. There's a theory that antipsychotics, when combined with extra manganese, may make it easier for manganese to build up and affect the nervous system. The signs to watch for would be things like worsening movement problems, tremors, stiffness, or shifts in mood and thinking.

I want to be straight with you, though: this is based on a single old case report in someone who also had liver disease, so the evidence is weak and theoretical. A normal diet gives you plenty of manganese already. If you're thinking about a concentrated manganese supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or prescriber first.
