Manganese + Chlortetracycline
Chlortetracycline brand name: Aureomycin.
Manganese has a moderate interaction with Chlortetracycline. Theoretically, manganese might reduce the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
TETRACYCLINE ANTIBIOTICS
Why this applies to Chlortetracycline
Chlortetracycline falls under TETRACYCLINE ANTIBIOTICS — the group Manganese interacts with.
Manganese is a multivalent cation. Interactions resulting in reduced tetracycline absorption have been reported between tetracyclines and other multivalent cations, such as calcium and iron.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the gist: chlortetracycline (Aureomycin) is one of the older tetracycline antibiotics, and like its cousins it really doesn't like to share the stomach with certain minerals. Manganese is what we call a multivalent cation, meaning it can grab onto the antibiotic in your gut and form a clump that your body can't absorb well. The worry is that less of the antibiotic gets into your bloodstream, which could leave your infection undertreated.
I'll be honest, this is mostly theoretical, based on how we know calcium and iron behave with tetracyclines. The simple fix is timing: take your antibiotic and any manganese supplement a couple of hours apart. Everyday food amounts of manganese are unlikely to be a problem. Check with your pharmacist to set up the right schedule.

About Manganese
What is Manganese?
- Bone health support
- Antioxidant and enzyme support
- Filling dietary gaps
- Metabolism support
- Wound healing
Manganese is an essential trace mineral your body needs in small amounts for bone formation, metabolism, and antioxidant defense, and most people get enough from a normal diet. Supplements may help if you have a genuine deficiency, but too much can be harmful—especially to the nervous system—so do not take high doses without guidance from a pharmacist or doctor.
