Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
QUINOLONE ANTIBIOTICS
Why this applies to Clinafloxacin
Clinafloxacin falls under QUINOLONE ANTIBIOTICS — the group Manganese interacts with.
Manganese is a multivalent cation. Interactions resulting in reduced quinolone absorption have been reported between quinolones and other multivalent cations, such as calcium and iron.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the gist with clinafloxacin, which is a quinolone antibiotic: minerals like manganese carry a positive charge (they're what we call multivalent cations), and these can grab onto the antibiotic in your gut and form clumps your body can't absorb well. The worry is that a manganese supplement could lower how much clinafloxacin actually gets into your bloodstream, leaving you with a weaker antibiotic and an infection that doesn't clear the way it should.
I'll be straight with you, this is based on how the chemistry works and on what we've seen with other minerals like calcium and iron, not on hard studies with manganese itself. A simple fix usually solves it: separate the doses by a few hours. Please run the timing by your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
- AHigh-quality meta-analysis (quantitative systematic review).
- BCase-control study.
- CConsensus.

By severity: 4 major · 62 moderate · 21 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Clinafloxacin page
“If you have been prescribed clinafloxacin, a quinolone antibiotic, start with the four interactions rated major, because they all do the same thing: apple, grapefruit, and orange juice, along with activated charcoal, can sharply cut how much of the drug you absorb, and an antibiotic that never reaches your bloodstream cannot clear the…”

About Manganese
What is Manganese?
- Bone health support
- Antioxidant and enzyme support
- Filling dietary gaps
- Metabolism support
- Wound healing
Manganese is an essential trace mineral your body needs in small amounts for bone formation, metabolism, and antioxidant defense, and most people get enough from a normal diet. Supplements may help if you have a genuine deficiency, but too much can be harmful—especially to the nervous system—so do not take high doses without guidance from a pharmacist or doctor.
