What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: nattokinase 100 mg per capsule at a potency of 2000 fibrinolytic units (FU). Nattokinase is an enzyme derived from natto, a traditional Japanese fermented soybean food, and is thought to work through blood-thinning and clot-dissolving effects.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients — cellulose, silica, and vegetable stearate — which are fillers and binders.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence we hold for nattokinase does not yet establish its effectiveness for the conditions studied: angina, atherosclerosis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and chronic fatigue syndrome all carry a rating of insufficient reliable evidence. That means the research so far hasn't been strong or complete enough to make a confident claim either way.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Nattokinase is generally tolerated in the short term, but its blood-thinning properties mean you should be cautious if you have any bleeding risk. Rare reports of bleeding, including a serious case of brain hemorrhage, have been linked to nattokinase use.
Additionally, it can trigger hypersensitivity reactions — including anaphylaxis in rare cases — in people sensitive to natto or its compounds, with symptoms appearing within 2 hours of taking it. The safety data advises against nattokinase during pregnancy because there isn't enough information to know it's safe.
The same holds for breastfeeding — safety is unknown, so it's best avoided until more is known.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this product, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on any blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, apixaban, dabigatran, rivaroxaban, clopidogrel, or aspirin) — nattokinase raises your bleeding risk. Also flag any blood pressure medications you're taking, since nattokinase may lower your pressure further.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Nattokinase may appeal to those interested in blood flow and cardiovascular support, but the evidence for specific conditions isn't yet solid enough to rate. The real concern is if you take blood thinners, aspirin, or blood pressure medications — this supplement can strengthen those effects and raise your bleeding or low-pressure risk.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting it, especially if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any bleeding tendency.

Nattokinase 100 mg 2000 FU by Nova Nutritions Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Nova Nutritions' Nattokinase 100 mg carries documented moderate interactions with two major medication types.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs) — nattokinase has blood-thinning effects of its own, and combining it with these medications raises your bleeding risk. There's a case report of brain bleeding (intracranial hemorrhage) in someone who added nattokinase to aspirin therapy.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Nattokinase may also lower blood pressure, so if you take blood pressure medications (antihypertensive drugs), there's a moderate risk of your pressure dropping too far. Some research does suggest nattokinase can reduce both systolic and diastolic blood pressure on its own.
Altogether, these interactions span 289 individual medications. Before you start this product, run your exact medications through the interaction checker on this page.
