What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: organic astragalus root powder. Astragalus is a traditional botanical used across multiple health areas.
The powder contains no other active ingredients, and has no inactive fillers or binders added.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for astragalus isn't well established in the data we hold. Studies we reviewed rated its effectiveness insufficient for hay fever (allergic rhinitis), amenorrhea, aplastic anemia, angina, asthma, and beta-thalassemia.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work for these or other conditions—it means the human research either isn't strong enough yet or we don't have it on file. If you're considering astragalus for a specific health goal, check with your doctor or pharmacist about what the current evidence shows for your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Astragalus is generally well tolerated in the short term in healthy adults, but quality human safety data is limited, so long-term use isn't well studied. The safety data advises against astragalus during pregnancy and while breastfeeding because there isn't enough reliable information to know either way.
Reported side effects are uncommon and include dizziness and rash in some studies, though these may not have been caused by astragalus itself. Intravenous administration (which this powder is not) has caused temporary palpitations and dizziness in patients with heart failure, but that's not relevant to the oral powder form.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you use immunosuppressants (like those after transplant), cyclophosphamide (a chemo drug), lithium (for mood disorders), or antidiabetes drugs—these are all documented Moderate-severity concerns. No interactions are documented for other drug types in our data.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Astragalus powder is a single-ingredient supplement that's generally well tolerated short-term in healthy adults, but it can interact with immunosuppressants, lithium, cyclophosphamide, and blood-sugar-lowering drugs. If you take any medications—especially those types—talk to your doctor or pharmacist before starting it.
Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should avoid it because the safety data isn't there yet.

Organic Astragalus Root Powder by Micro Ingredients Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Organic Astragalus Root Powder by Micro Ingredients interacts with medications through its astragalus root content, with the most serious concern being immunosuppressants.
Astragalus appears to boost immune function, which could theoretically reduce the effectiveness of drugs that are meant to suppress immunity—including immunosuppressants used after organ transplants, for certain autoimmune conditions, and cyclophosphamide (a chemotherapy drug). Altogether, these interactions span 208 individual medications.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Astragalus may also raise lithium levels and side effects. Because astragalus has diuretic properties (it increases urination), it could reduce how your body clears lithium, leading to buildup.
Additionally, astragalus might lower blood sugar, which poses a risk of excessively low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) if you're already taking drugs that bring down glucose—particularly if you combine them.
If you take any of these medication types, check your exact drugs with the tool on this page before starting astragalus powder, and run the decision by your doctor or pharmacist first.
