This capsule contains seven active probiotic ingredients: Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus plantarum, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium breve, and Bacillus subtilis (branded as DE111). These are live, beneficial bacteria meant to support your gut flora.
The inactive ingredients — vegetable cellulose, maltodextrin, and medium chain triglyceride — are fillers and capsule material.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence varies by strain and condition. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Bacillus subtilis (DE111) is possibly effective for antibiotic-associated diarrhea. For Bifidobacterium longum and Bifidobacterium breve, the evidence isn't established yet — we hold insufficient data to rate them for most conditions.
Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus casei, and Lactobacillus rhamnosus don't have effectiveness ratings in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. The most common side effects are mild gastrointestinal ones — bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, or diarrhea — though these are uncommon.
There is a rare but serious concern: in very ill or immunocompromised patients (especially critically ill infants, preterm infants, or those with recent surgery or severe immunosuppression), these live bacteria have occasionally caused bloodstream infections like bacteremia and sepsis. If you're seriously ill, immunocompromised, or have a compromised heart valve, talk to your doctor before starting this product.
Bifidobacterium longum is rated possibly safe in pregnancy and lactation; safety data for the other ingredients during pregnancy or breastfeeding are limited or absent, so discuss with your doctor or pharmacist.

Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
