Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Tri Active Biotics Daily Care contains 21 active ingredients: a mix of digestive enzymes (protease and fungal variants), multiple probiotic bacterial strains (including Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium species), and lactase for milk digestion. The probiotics are living microorganisms meant to support your gut flora, while the enzymes help break down food and the prebiotic ingredient feeds beneficial bacteria.
The product also contains inactive ingredients: a vegetable capsule, organic rice flour, organic rice extract, and an ester of glycerol as a binding agent.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Evidence is mixed across the active ingredients here. Fungal Lactase is effective for lactose intolerance if you have trouble digesting milk.
Several of the probiotic strains show promise for specific uses—Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis, and Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for IBS and respiratory tract infections. However, for most of the conditions listed in our data—such as age-related cognitive decline, hay fever, and anxiety—the evidence is insufficient to rate these ingredients.
We don't have effectiveness data on file for the other probiotic strains, the protease, or the prebiotic ingredient.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The probiotic strains and lactase are generally well tolerated in healthy adults. However, probiotics carry a rare but serious risk in people with weakened immune systems or critical illness—bacteremia (bacteria in the bloodstream) and sepsis have been reported, especially in preterm infants and very ill patients.
Protease may cause digestive upset or, rarely, allergic reactions; occupational exposure to airborne protease has caused allergic rhinitis and asthma in some workers. Probiotic use can occasionally cause bloating, flatulence, and mild abdominal discomfort.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding data are limited: Protease should be avoided in pregnancy unless prescribed, and breastfeeding use is not recommended without medical advice. Lactase is likely safe in pregnancy.
Data on the other probiotic strains in pregnancy are not on file; ask your doctor before use if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your antibiotic medications before starting this product. All the probiotic strains we could check—Bifidobacterium breve, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Bifidobacterium longum—carry a Moderate interaction: antibiotics may reduce the effectiveness of the probiotics, so you'll need to space them out.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product is a multi-strain probiotic with enzymes and may help with lactose intolerance and possibly some digestive issues, but the evidence is strongest for a few strains in specific conditions like IBS. If you take antibiotics, separate them from this supplement by several hours—the antibiotics will kill the probiotics otherwise.
If you have a weakened immune system, are critically ill, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, check with your doctor first; otherwise, it's generally well tolerated in healthy adults.

Formulation
For immune support and digestive health
Bac5 TriActive Biotics Bac5 Activity is a process by which the prebiotic is delivered to the acidic environment of the stomach to balance the pH, and discourage the growth of unfriendly bacteria. It also causes bacterial multiplication for the protected probiotic blend, which is delivered safely to the intestine through microencapsulation. Microencapsulated probiotics have been shown in human clinical trials to colonize/adhere up to 5x better than typical or uncoated strains.
