Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 2 of its 2 active ingredients.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

TruRecover has two active ingredients: VitaCherry Sport (a sour cherry extract) and moveplx (a lemon verbena extract). These are enclosed in a plant-based capsule with inactive ingredients including a cellulose binder, silicon dioxide, and magnesium stearate.

Insufficient evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Insufficient

There isn't enough reliable clinical evidence to rate this product's ingredients for its stated purpose.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: Athletic recovery support and joint health.
  • We looked for evidence on: Exercise-induced muscle soreness, Exercise-induced muscle damage, Joint pain, Osteoarthritis, Gout, Range of motion — and 2 related terms.
  • The closest evidence on file: Lemon Verbena is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Joint pain (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Lemon Verbena is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Exercise-induced muscle damage.
  • Also on file: Sour Cherry is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Exercise-induced muscle soreness, Osteoarthritis, Gout, Range of motion.

The evidence for this product is limited. VitaCherry Sport is possibly effective for athletic performance, but the data on its effects for exercise-related muscle soreness, cognitive function, and other uses is insufficient to rate.

Moveplx (lemon verbena) also lacks reliable evidence for joint pain, muscle damage after exercise, or multiple sclerosis — we simply don't have enough solid research on these claims yet.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 2 of the 2 matched ingredients.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 2 of 2.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 2 of 2.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Sour cherry is generally well tolerated as whole fruit, but concentrated supplements are less studied. In one clinical study, about 29% of children taking tart cherry juice concentrate twice daily reported abdominal pain; loose stools and other digestive upset have been reported in a small number of other cases.

Lemon verbena extract appears well tolerated when taken by mouth, though contact dermatitis can occur with topical application. The safety data advises against lemon verbena in medicinal amounts during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 2 matched ingredients can interact with medications — Lemon Verbena.

Before taking TruRecover, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take benzodiazepines (like alprazolam, diazepam, or lorazepam) — lemon verbena may increase sedation and slow your breathing. No other interactions are documented for the sour cherry ingredient.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with insufficient evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

This recovery supplement pairs sour cherry and lemon verbena, though the evidence for either ingredient's effect on exercise recovery is not firmly established. If you take benzodiazepines or other sedating medications, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting — lemon verbena may boost sedation.

Most people tolerate it well, but digestive upset is possible.

Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Is this safe to take during pregnancy?
Sour cherry is likely safe, but there isn't enough data on lemon verbena in pregnancy, and the safety data advises against it in medicinal amounts. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product if you're pregnant — they can help you decide what's right for you.
Is this safe while breastfeeding?
