Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: white mulberry leaf powder (from Morus alba). Mulberry leaf has been used traditionally to support blood sugar balance and overall wellness.

The capsule itself is vegetarian.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
General wellness

This White Mulberry product is marketed for general wellness, not a specific health condition, so there's no single claim to grade — see White Mulberry's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets general wellness (“supports overall health”), not a specific health condition, so there is no single claim to grade against clinical-evidence data.

The evidence we hold doesn't establish that white mulberry leaf reliably works for any condition — we have insufficient data to rate it for blood sugar control, cholesterol, bone health, hair loss, or cold prevention. While some research suggests it may affect blood glucose, the clinical evidence isn't strong enough for us to make a solid claim about effectiveness.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

White mulberry leaf is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth. The most common side effects are temporary digestive issues — bloating, flatulence, loose stools, or constipation.

In one clinical trial, about half of participants reported bloating or gas at the start, but these effects often eased as they continued taking it. Because the supplement can lower blood sugar, use caution if that's a concern for you.

We don't have enough safety data to recommend medicinal amounts during pregnancy or while breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized guidance.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — White Mulberry.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 87 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking this product, check your medications against these drug types: antidiabetes drugs (because of the risk of low blood sugar) and OCT2 substrate medications (because white mulberry may slow their elimination). Both are Moderate-severity interactions.

Your pharmacist can search your exact medications on this page.

White Mulberry by Pure Health Naturally is worth considering if you're exploring traditional support for blood sugar, but the evidence for it isn't established yet. Expect possible mild digestive effects at the start.

Antidiabetes Drugs

Theoretically, white mulberry leaf might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
Clinical research shows that white mulberry leaf can lower blood glucose levels. Advise patients to monitor glucose levels closely.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Organic Cation Transporter 2 (Oct2) Substrates

Theoretically, white mulberry leaf might slow the elimination and increase the adverse effects of drugs which are OCT2 substrates.
Animal research shows that coadministration of white mulberry leaf extract with metformin, an OCT2 substrate, slows the renal elimination of metformin via inhibition of OCT2 activity. OCT2 is expressed in the kidneys and is responsible for transporting cationic drugs into tubular epithelial cells in order to be excreted in the urine.

White Mulberry by Pure Health Naturally: Common Questions

Does White Mulberry by Pure Health Naturally interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, White Mulberry has a known interaction with 87 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
White Mulberry contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Will white mulberry lower my blood sugar if I'm not diabetic?
White mulberry leaf can lower blood glucose levels, so theoretically yes — but the effect in people without diabetes isn't well studied. If you're concerned, talk with your pharmacist before starting.
What are the side effects?
Digestive issues are most common: bloating, gas, loose stools, or constipation. In clinical trials, about half of patients had bloating or gas, a quarter had loose stools, and about a fifth had constipation — but these often got better as they kept taking it.
Can I take this if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
We don't have enough safety data. The facts advise against medicinal amounts in both cases, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice.
Does this product actually work?
The evidence we hold isn't established for any condition — there's insufficient data to rate it reliably for blood sugar, cholesterol, bone health, hair loss, or cold prevention. More research is needed.
Is this the same as eating mulberry fruit?
No. Mulberry leaf powder is a concentrated supplement and is less studied than mulberry as a food. The safety profile is different, which is why we're cautious.
