Here's an honest bit of housekeeping for you. The interaction we have on file pairs alfalfa with immune-suppressing medications, where the worry is that alfalfa's possible immune-boosting compounds could work against those drugs. Lumateperone (Caplyta) is an antipsychotic, not an immunosuppressant, so this particular concern doesn't really line up with how Caplyta works in your body.

The flagged interaction is also theoretical, based mostly on lab studies and a few case reports, not strong human trials. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it for Caplyta. That said, before adding any new supplement alongside your antipsychotic, run it by your pharmacist or doctor so they can check it against your full medication list.

What Is Lumateperone Used For?

Brand name: Caplyta

Caplyta (lumateperone) is approved for adults with schizophrenia, depressive episodes associated with bipolar I or II disorder (bipolar depression), and as an add-on treatment for major depressive disorder (MDD).

For bipolar depression, Caplyta can be used on its own or alongside lithium or valproate. For MDD, Caplyta is used together with an antidepressant — not on its own as a standalone antidepressant.
