Why this applies to Dasiglucagon Hydrochloride

Dasiglucagon Hydrochloride falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Apple interacts with.

Theoretically, consuming apple juice with antidiabetes drugs might interfere with blood glucose control.
Clinical research suggests that consuming apples or drinking apple juice can raise blood glucose levels, with the effects of drinking apple juice being more significant than consuming apples.

Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the thing to keep in mind: dasiglucagon (Zegalogue) is an emergency rescue medicine. You only reach for it when blood sugar drops dangerously low, and its whole job is to push your liver to dump stored sugar back into your blood. So the apple concern here isn't really about a chemical clash between the two.

This interaction is theoretical and based on how things work on paper, not strong studies. The idea is that apples, and especially apple juice, can raise blood sugar on their own. With a routine diabetes pill that lowers sugar, that could nudge your control off a bit. But in a true low-sugar emergency, eating an apple or sipping juice actually works with the same goal as dasiglucagon. Just confirm your overall plan with your pharmacist or doctor.

“Dasiglucagon (Zegalogue) is an emergency injection that rapidly raises blood sugar during a severe diabetic low, so a supplement list this large deserves genuine care. All 239 interacting ingredients act through blood glucose, and most of them lower it, deepening the very crashes this drug exists to reverse.”

Apples are a nutritious whole food that provides fiber, vitamins, and antioxidant plant compounds, and eating them regularly fits well into a healthy diet.
