ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Quinapril
Quinapril falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Apple interacts with.
Some clinical evidence suggests that consuming apple and cherry juice can increase blood pressure in elderly patients.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the thing to know about pairing apples with Quinapril (Accupri). Eating a fresh apple now and then is not the concern. The worry comes from drinking a lot of apple juice (and cherry juice too). Some lower-quality research in older adults suggests these juices may nudge blood pressure back up, which could work against what your Quinapril is trying to do, namely keep your blood pressure under control.
If that happened, you might simply notice your numbers creeping higher at home. This is moderate-strength evidence, not a sure thing, so please don't panic or stop anything. A whole apple as a snack is fine. If you drink apple juice daily, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye on your blood pressure readings.

These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. Each one covers Apple or Quinapril, not necessarily both, but if one is close to what you were about to ask it will usually go further than a database entry can:

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Quinapril page
“Quinapril (Accupril) lowers blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels, and that is where most of the 166 supplements and herbs on this list collide with it. The bulk either push its blood-pressure-lowering effect too far or work against it, and with six entries rated major, this page deserves a careful read, not a skim.”

About Apple
What is Apple?
- General nutrition and fiber intake
- Heart and cholesterol health
- Blood sugar and weight management
- Digestive regularity
- Antioxidant support
Apples are a nutritious whole food that provides fiber, vitamins, and antioxidant plant compounds, and eating them regularly fits well into a healthy diet. While research suggests apples may support heart and digestive health, most claims about concentrated apple supplements or extracts are not strongly proven, so enjoy apples as food and talk with your pharmacist before using high-dose products.
About Quinapril
What Is Quinapril Used For?
Brand names: Accupril, Accupro
Quinapril tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack. Quinapril may be used alone or combined with a thiazide diuretic (water pill) when one medication isn't enough.
Quinapril tablets are also used in the management of heart failure as an add-on therapy alongside other standard treatments such as diuretics and/or digitalis.

Quinapril Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Quinapril as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Apple — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
