Buproprion, Dextromethorphan falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Atractylodes interacts with.

Theoretically, atractylodes might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In animals, atractylodes administered at high doses has been shown to inhibit CYP3A1 activity, which is a homolog to the human CYP3A4 enzyme. This effect has not been shown in humans.

Auvelity combines bupropion and dextromethorphan. Here's the angle: bupropion actually blocks the enzyme (CYP2D6) that normally breaks down dextromethorphan, which is exactly why the two are paired (it lets dextromethorphan build up to a useful level). On top of that, dextromethorphan is partly cleared by CYP3A4. The concern on file is that atractylodes might slow CYP3A4 a little, which could in theory nudge dextromethorphan levels up a bit further. More of it could mean dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, or feeling foggy.

I want to be honest, though: this is only seen in animal and lab studies at high doses, never proven in people, and it's rated minor. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but since Auvelity is already a carefully balanced combo, run any atractylodes product by your pharmacist or doctor first.
