Why this applies to Fezolinetant

Fezolinetant falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Atractylodes interacts with.

Theoretically, atractylodes might decrease the levels of CYP1A2 substrates.
In animals, atractylodes administered at high doses has been shown to induce CYP1A2 activity. This effect has not been shown in humans.

Here's the situation with Veozah (fezolinetant), the non-hormonal medicine for hot flashes. Your body clears it using a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. In animal studies using high doses, atractylodes seemed to speed that enzyme up. If that happened in people, it could clear fezolinetant out faster and make it a little less effective, meaning your hot flashes might not be as well controlled.

The important part: this is only a theory from lab and animal work, and it has not been shown in humans. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you notice your hot flashes creeping back after adding atractylodes, or you just want peace of mind, check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
