Mobocertinib Succinate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Atractylodes interacts with.

Theoretically, atractylodes might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In animals, atractylodes administered at high doses has been shown to inhibit CYP3A1 activity, which is a homolog to the human CYP3A4 enzyme. This effect has not been shown in humans.

Here's the gist: your body clears mobocertinib (Exkivity) mainly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In animal studies, high doses of atractylodes slowed down a similar enzyme. If that same thing happened in people, your mobocertinib could break down more slowly and build up in your blood, which might mean more side effects like diarrhea, mouth sores, nausea, rash, or changes in your heart rhythm (this drug can affect the QT interval).

That said, this is only a theoretical concern from lab and animal work, and it hasn't been shown in humans. Still, because mobocertinib is a serious cancer drug with real heart-rhythm risks, I'd play it safe. Please run any atractylodes-containing supplement or herbal formula past your oncology team before using it.

What Is Mobocertinib Used For?

  • Mobocertinib is used to treat a certain type of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that cannot be removed by surgery and has spread to other parts of the body either during or after treatment with platinum chemotherapy medications. Mobocertinib is in a class of medications called kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps stop or slow the spread of cancer cells and may help shrink tumors.
