ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Bosentan
Bosentan falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Beta-glucans interacts with.
Clinical research shows that taking beta-glucans may reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure in some hypertensive individuals.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version: oat and barley beta-glucans can nudge blood pressure down a little on their own. Since bosentan relaxes and widens blood vessels to ease the pressure in your lungs, stacking the two could add up and leave your overall blood pressure a touch lower than expected. That might show up as lightheadedness, dizziness when you stand up, or feeling unusually tired.
That said, this is theoretical and based on weak, anecdotal evidence, and the blood-pressure effect of beta-glucans is usually modest. The fiber you get from eating oatmeal or barley is very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated supplement doses are more worth a quick mention to your pharmacist or doctor, especially if you already notice dizzy spells.

About Beta-glucans
What is Beta-glucans?
- High cholesterol
- Heart health
- Immune support
- Blood sugar control
- Wound care (topical)
Beta-glucans are natural fibers found in oats, barley, mushrooms, and yeast. The strongest evidence supports the oat and barley types for modestly lowering cholesterol and blood sugar, while immune-related claims from yeast and mushroom sources are far less proven. They are generally well tolerated, but check with your pharmacist before starting any supplement.
About Bosentan
What Is Bosentan Used For?
Brand name: Tracleer
Bosentan is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) — high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. In adults, it helps improve the ability to exercise and slows how quickly the disease gets worse.
In children aged 3 years and older with idiopathic (no known cause) or congenital (present from birth) PAH, bosentan is used to lower resistance in the lung blood vessels, which is expected to improve exercise ability. Tracleer is one brand approved for both adults and pediatric patients with PAH.

Bosentan Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Bosentan as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Beta-glucans — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
